They
Just Don't Wanna Work!
I'll just assume
that the prevailing notion that many able bodied people prefer life on
welfare to working (bums) is commonly thought as the reason persons find
themselves dependent on "welfare". Here are some other reasons to
consider:
-
unemployable due
to disability
-
unemployable due
to illness
-
unemployable due
to mental illness
-
unemployable due
to illiteracy
-
unemployable due
to psychological illness (grief, trauma, victimization)
-
unemployable due
to immigration status not allowing person to work
-
unemployable due
to substance abuse issues which have not resolved
-
unemployable due
to not being presentable (no place to cleanup, no decent clothes, incontinent,
tendency to projectile vomit, lacking teeth, scarring, drooling - well,
you get the picture)
-
unemployable due
to history (criminal record, mental health history, etc)
trapped along
with the above, their children
who must live in this poverty also.
